Janene grew up in San Francisco, surrounded by her big family of Chinese immigrants. She graduated from UC Davis with degrees in International Relations and French language, and studied at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Lyon, France. After working a series of odd jobs (she fit Steve Jobs with his iconic, size 11B, grey New Balance shoes), she worked in brand advertising for 13 years telling other people's stories before realizing she wanted to be a screenwriter to tell her own stories. Drawing from her various experiences, Janene loves writing about the journey of self-discovery that explores the hilarious and heartbreaking tension between who we wish we were versus who we actually are. In addition to joining Paramount Writers Mentorship program, Janene was a semi-finalist for the Disney's Television Writing Program.
